Located on one of the most private and exclusive beaches on the west coast of Florida sits the Freund House.
The project is designed to unfold behind the trees upon entry down the formal drive that is on axis with a low wall anchoring the sky and horizon. The project is essentially a concrete pavilion with a glass curtain wall. Colored cubes that are carefully engaged within the purity of the concrete frame and grid identify the various program functions. These ?cubes? house the functional areas of the house and are defined by color as well as form. Concrete bridges connect the ?cubes? on the interior. The colors were chosen to reflect colors found on the underside of a common shell found on the beach within the site.
